Karyotyping
Intention
Karyotyping is a technique to identify chromosome abnormalities
as the cause of malformation or disease (i.e. Down’s
Syndrome). This method is for determining:
- The number of chromosomes present
- The structural changes in chromosomes

Amniotic Fluid (Set up /Culture and Karyotyping)
Chorionic Villi (Set up /Culture and Karyotyping)
Peripheral / Fetal Blood (Karyotyping)
Tissue Biopsy / Abortus Tissue / Product of Conception
